I don’t do heroes, but when it comes to a band like U2 it’s hard not to. This week I was lucky enough to attend my fourth tour, including my sixth and seventh concert, of the four most awesome Irish lads.
When I first heard about Hugh Laurie taking up a singing career, I was a bit sceptic. However, I soon forgot about the scepticism once I listened to his debut album Let Them Talk. When I learned that he was releasing a new album this year, Didn’t It Rain, I was eager to see him and The Copper Bottom Band live. The latter happened earlier this week at the Cirque Royal in Brussels. The husband (who is very much into blues and happily tagged along) and I agreed that this was the best live show we’ve seen this year (and one of the best ever). Hugh knows how to entertain the audience (he’s an actor after all), but he doesn’t steal the spotlight at all. The backing vocals sure had their fair share of fame during the evening, which I can only applaud. By the end of the night the audience was dancing along to the tunes of Hugh and his Copper Bottom Band and I guess most of us left the venue with that Let the Good Times Roll feeling.
If you haven’t had the chance to watch BeyoncĂ©’s Super Bowl 2013 halftime performance, then I’d suggest you do it now as Queen B killed it! Speaking of which, it seems like our Queen has adjusted quite well to her title as you can see in this ad for her upcoming world tour. No word yet on whether her King will join her on stage. I hope he does though, if only because I scored a pair of tickets for her Antwerp show. May’s already bringing us Ellie and now BeyoncĂ©, I wonder what else it has in store.
