‘Tis the season of pop-up shops, that I can tell you. I have one more to write about this week, but first let me talk to you about my visit to The Plantshop this weekend. I wrote about it before, where I almost couldn’t contain my excitement, so imagine what happened when I actually set foot into the shop this past Saturday.
Anne & Hanne from online design shop Baroness O. and Belgian designer Sofie Claes really outdid themselves for this venture. This place is bursting with all things creative and it all blends in so well together: the plants, the design, the clothing, the magazines, the coffee. I could go on forever about it.
I picked up one of the custom notebooks (I adore how they turned a regular notebook into something special), an issue of Kinfolk (finally!) and one of the products designed for The Plantshop: a hand and body cream. The herbal & flowery scent is just perfect.
I hope to visit them again before they close by the end of December and if you are looking for the perfect Christmas gift, then The Plantshop is your go-to shop. If you just like to be surrounded by cool people, great design and creative minds in a beautiful setting, you might consider stopping by as well.
See you there?

ps: I just have to mention that Sofie Claes designed the most perfect leather jacket for her Wolf. by Sofie Claes line. I think I fell in love with a jacket (now, that’s a first).

this is not another pop-up

Plantshop

When I read a press release with the sentence “this is not another pop-up”, I’m intrigued. Especially when it also talks about a new generation of pop-up concepts and that the likes of Baroness O. (online store/creative studio) and Sofie Claes (fashion designer) are involved.
Let me introduce you to The Plantshop. Based in Antwerp, from November 21st until December 28th, The Plantshop promises to spoil us with coffee, design, magazines and plants. But there’s more: the temporary restaurant will stuff your stomach every Thursday night (reservation required).
These creative gals also worked together on a special project. Top-secret as for now, the only thing we know for now is that it is a cross-over of sorts between fashion and design.
Furthermore, Baroness O. will present her capsule collection Jacky by Baroness O. together with other items from the webshop.
Designer Sofie Claes will present her AW13 capsule collection which she will complement with a line of silver leather garments.

If there’s one drink I won’t say no to, it’s a good glass of wine. So, when the lovely Stephanie Duval invited me to the latest edition of ApĂ©ros Bordeaux, I couldn’t say no.
ApĂ©ros Bordeaux could best be described as an after work party hosted by Bordeaux wines at a cool location, for now only in Antwerp & Brussels. The menu offers a selection from the Coups de Coeur 2013 wines which were selected by a jury of wine professionals. The ApĂ©ros nights offer you to taste these wines at 3 to 5 euros per glass. Keep in mind that most of these wines are usually offered at over 8 euros per glass, so it’s definitely worth trying if you’re into wine.
The ApĂ©ros Bordeaux have a different theme for every edition and Wednesday’s theme was music. The performance by Boogie Boy sure set the tone for a wonderful evening filled with (lots of) wine, catching up with inspiring people and great music.
The next edition of Apéros Bordeaux is this Wednesday in Brussels and the theme for the evening is art. Other dates are set for the summer and fall as well at different locations in Brussels and Antwerp.
