I convinced the hubby to stop by on Thursday night since it was one of those rare summer nights in Belgium and I wasn’t too sure about making it to the festival on Friday night since thunderstorms were expected.
As always, this was a good call, because indeed last night it poured and instead of wandering around Barrio Cantina I disappeared onto my couch binge-watching Friday Night Lights.
Rewind to Thursday night now for a short review. I explored the website in advance because I like to have a menu set in mind. We ended up trying the scrumptious hot dogs of Bulls and Dogs. I had a spicy one (I remember it had Texas in its title) and it was perfect! Loved this one!
We then shared French fries at the Frietfiets (basically a food
truck bike serving delicious fries). My oh my, these were amazing!
Of course, we still had to get some dessert and we opted for the mastelle (a typical product of Ghent brought to you by Mastelle & Co). This was a-m-a-z-i-n-g! And the guy serving them? Born to be an entertainer, that’s for sure!
Of course, we had to do the photobooth shenanigans thing at the Pop-up Booth which I adored, although it did take some convincing of the husband.
Still looking for something to do this weekend? Have an empty fridge? Want to enjoy good food and the sunshine? Then head over to Bruges and enjoy the Bruges edition of Barrio Cantina.
I’m working on convincing my man to make another stop by the festival tomorrow.
While I’m at it, I’m also (and finally) on Snapchat these days. You can find me via the good old kellysteenlandt. See you there!
